Plating with and without electricity
We were asked to make a investigatory project about plating. I would like to ask about the principle behind plating without the use of electricity? what is the difference between plating with the use of electricity and plating without the use of electricity?

A university student should be starting a project like this with books, Carla. Please see our list of must-have books, and get one from your local or university library. If they have nothing, the Metal Finishing Guidebook is available used for $20 and less.
Electroplating occurs per Faraday's Law, which you can look up. Electroplating without electricity (immersion plating) is understandable after you review the Nernst Equation. Electroless plating (autocatalytic plating) is a bit more complicated but probably not the subject of your introductory level project.
