Sad News about This Site

AI has recently improved search services so much that many readers now accept the AI regurgitations rather than continuing on to the actual sources like finishing.com. So the AI provider now receives the advertising revenue rather than the originating site, which seems to be the death knell for free informational and Q&A sites like finishing.com.

We saw that our advertisers were getting less traffic than before AI, so out of fairness & appreciation for their years of support, we stopped all billing several months ago.
We tried substituting affiliate link income, but unfortunately our costs of operation are substantial, and it proved to be just a drop in the bucket towards the bills. So our 37 years on line must come to an end.

I am grateful to our supporting advertisers, but especially to our "regulars" whose generosity with their knowledge & experience made finishing.com the world's "go-to spot" for metal finishing help and answers.

P.S.: Don't scrap your bookmarks yet. Although the site is operating at a loss due to us no longer billing our advertisers, we are talking to a couple of people who would like to take it over. We'll try to pick the most promising and hope for their success.
