Definition of "immersion deposition"?

(2001)

I am reading through a technical journal which states that if copper sulfate is used to plate copper on zinc, an "immersion deposition of copper" would occur which is a semi-adherent bond. The article continues by stating that this would not occur if using copper cyanide. Could someone please define the terms "immersion deposition" and "displacement deposit" please?

Thank you,

See letter 196 of 16 may para 4 by Tom Pullizzi. This is a simple way of explaining a complex thing.
