Q. To whom ever it may concern, Hello,

We have a powder coating unit and need to know the composition of cold dip zinc phosphating with proportions. I tried the composition of chemicals mentioned in this site but we are not getting the fine etch finish.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards

? Hi, Ravi. Please tell us what composition you used. There are 56,000 threads on this site and it is difficult for anyone to know what thread you might be referring to, so no one knows what composition that you used. Thanks.

A. Dear Mr. Nagaraju,
There are a number of chemical houses like Henkel, Chemetall etc who can give you the cold phosphating chemical.

A. Oh! dear ravi,

We market our products by name RENU.

You can never make on your own without proper set up and cold water jacket, certain chemicals and additives are rare and very difficult to source. As far as grains are concerned you have to check formulations and try for Tri-cationic formulation and get Smooth refined dense grey phosphating coat.

Ed. note: We ask readers to offer only technical responses, not brand names or sourcing info ( huh? why?). It is fine to suggest that the inquirer use proprietary chemicals, but not to suggest which brand or vendor :-)

A. When you use a home brew, you have to be your own tech services. As you have found out, there is more to making a good solution than what you find in the public domain.
