A. Hi, Soham. Iron can be electroplated with any top layer that can be electroplated on brass. But I don't know exactly what you mean by white: silver colored (whitish in comparison to other metals), white bronze (white compared to true bronze) or a true white? To my knowledge electroplated metal coatings are not a true white.

Q. Thanks for your response,Ted Mooney. If not true white then probably it was pearl white or silver white (very white).

Thanx once again.

A. Hi, again. This sounds like what some people call "pearl nickel", Soham. It is a nickel plating with special proprietary additives that give a frost or pearl-like look to the plating.

Q. Thanks again, but does that look like white? Can can you explain further. I mean what additives can be used and how, to achieve the effect? That will be very helpful!

thanx in advance

A. Hi, Soham. We're no longer making much progress, I'm afraid. As I said in the first post, I've never seen white plating; but it's as white as any plating that I am familiar with. As mentioned, it is proprietary, so I can't tell you about the additives. You will need to speak to suppliers of plating processes and ask them about their pearl/satin nickel process and have them show you what it looks like. Then you can compare it to your memory of what you saw. Uyemura International, Enthone, and CST-Surtec are suppliers who I believe offer this process.

Topics 26692, 31805, and 32950 may be of some help. Good luck!
