Q. hello
i want to know pretreatment cast iron caliper for powder coating. We have problem in testing parts chipping and adherence paint on cast iron.

A. Hi Asghar. Degassing, pretreatment with alkaline permanganate solution, and calcium modified zinc phosphate are suggested in thread 57223, and you can search the site with the term "powder coat cast iron" for many more interesting threads on the subject. You might elicit a more enthusiastic response by describing what you already tried or are doing; people may not want to take the time to post their suggestions only to be told "we already tried that it didn't work" :-)

Q. I want to do powder coating on cast iron but the surface is so rough that coating will not look good. So please tell me how to make a perfect base on cast iron products?

A. This may sound overly simple but you have two possible solutions; start with casting with a smoother surface or grind the casting you have smooth.
