Info on the Basics of electroplating

(1999)

I need some information on plating. More specifically, I need to know exactly how the electrons are transferred, what the solution does, etc. I am using the recipe from the FAQ.

Our FAQ on How Electroplating Works includes both a formula for zinc electroplating and one for copper electroplating, John. Are you sure that the explanation is muddy, as opposed to the possibility that you haven't slowly and quietly read it and thought about it?

The electrons move through the wiring and battery from the anode to the cathode, and the positively charged ions of metal drift through the solution from the anode to the cathode.

If our explanation doesn't do it for you, have you tried any plating books yet? We have a list of recommended books and your library may have some of them. Good luck.
