Fingerprints on chromated zinc plating

Hello,

I am writing regarding preplate iron. The iron I am using is preplated with zinc and then a very thin passivate. Just a finger print can result in the deterioration of the passivate and zinc layer (white and then black rust) and then the iron (red rust). Is there any product (conductive preferably!) that can repair the zinc layer rather than replacing the panel? I have tried to source such a product but all efforts so far have proved fruitless.

Any help is appreciated.

I don't think you'll find a satisfactory touch up method. Consider a heavier yellow chromate and better, cleaner handling methods.

Brendan,
I assume the material you are talking about is 'Zintec'.
Unfortunately there is no real way of repairing the chromate film. The best option you have is to get the panel zinc plated by a local plater. The fact that there is a thin layer on the component already is not a problem, as it will be removed in the pre-treatment.
