-----Calculation for alloy thickness, composition
I am a research scholar trying to deposit Ni;Fe in the ratio
80:20. I am using a sulphate bath. For individual metals I use the formula
Thickness(in microns) = Current(amp)* time(sec)*atomic wt*10,000/ valency*density*plating area*96,485
But for alloy how to modify this formula so as to calculate the theoretical value.
help me to solve this problem.

Hello, Sriram. Faraday's Law of Electrolysis remains valid for alloys. Your equation is a bit fuzzy because you haven't included units of measure, and because you haven't included parenthesis that would clarify whether the density is in the numerator or denominator. But you just need to isolate the metal-dependent factors in your equation (atomic weight, valence, density) and substitute your 80:20 ratio.
For example, in place of atomic weight, you use (.8*atomic weight of iron + .2*atomic weight of nickel). Good luck.
