Question about the electroplating process

Hello, I am a industrial design student currently to pratt enrolled at Pratt Institute of Art. I found your question on the Internet while searching for an answer of my own. I am currently working on a small model for a new transportation design, and was hoping to be able to eventually plate my model using conductive paint with Nickel. I have a tank, a power supply, the nickel, and the model. I was wondering if you might have an idea of some of the different (relatively cheap) acids I could use to fill the tank for the "bath" which would transfer the Nickel to my model. could I use diluted battery acid ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] ? I was told I could even use vinegar in bulk on eBay or Amazon [affil link] . I am also wondering if the size of the tank and/or solution I have is dependent on the size of the Surface area I want to cover. I'm very interested in the whole process of electrodeposition and have been having trouble finding the information I need to begin. if you could provide any advice on the subject I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello Winston. It's way more complicated than that. I suggest you get an old used copy of the Metal Finishing Guidebook if there is none in the local or school library. It will be less than $20 and then you'll have something to go on.
