thumbs up sign Hi Michael. The bandwidth of this site isn't the tiniest fraction of eBay or craigslist and "matchmaking" services like that ... so we'd drown if we tried to be a free eBay . But your particular situation seemed to really deserve a posting, so we made an exception :-)

Luck & Regards,

A. In the 1960s, Fender Guitars offered custom colors. Some of the colors were DuPont acrylic lacquer. I needed some for a refinish. I called DuPont directly and they gave me the names of two jobbers who kept their mix stations. I got a quart each of what Fender called Inca Silver, which GM used on the 1957 Corvette, and Burgundy Mist, used on some Buicks and maybe Oldsmobiles.

I bought the product in 2015. Call DuPont.

RFQ: I recently took my restored Model A Ford Pickup to a national meet and while it was there someone took a key a scratched deeply all the way across the driver's side door. Needless to say this was pretty upsetting. When the pickup was restored, 3 years ago, it was painted with Dupont's Lucite Acrylic Lacquer no:143 LM Fleet Maroon. This was as close to the original Rubelite color, made by Ditzler, that Ford painted some of its commercial vehicles for 1930. As you can guess I am trying to find this the Dupont Lucite paint once again so I can try and match, as close as possible, the current paint.

I know it is hard to get Lacquer paints in California but they may be obtainable in Arizona.

I need help on where I might locate the Dupont Lucite anywhere in the US or any suggestions on what I might be able to do with another company?

Thank You for taking your time to answer my question.

RFQ: Did you ever get a response from anyone about this? Or, did you find a source anywhere? I'm also looking for Dupont Lucite Acrylic Lacquer. I've tried a lot of paint stores who always try to sell me the replacement.

Any leads appreciated.

Thanks

RFQ: I understand there's a automotive paint store in Reno Nevada. I need some for a car too. Let me know if you find it.

A. I've been looking for a long time for lacquer paints. An auto restorations place in [Hibernia, NJ] has what you're looking for. Found that by reading Hemmings Motor News, all the best good luck.

Q. I recently came across some Lucite in an estate sale, most of which is unopened and seems to be in a fluid state. Don't actually know the condition. I can see some of the cans labeled with colors, but haven't ever used a lacquer. Anyone with any information using this product or anyone that could shed some light on it for me would be very appreciated. Thanks-Ivan

RFQ: I am looking for Dupont acrylic lacquer in the color of Granada Gold, a 1967 General Motors color. Would like an unopened can from "the old days" not somebody's current attempt to match. I've already been burned once trying that. Thanks. -Jon

A. Lucite was discontinued in 2004 or 2005. both Dupont jobbers in my area were required to return all of their lucite toners to Dupont when this happened. Currently, the only major paint manufacturer to still offer acrylic lacquer is PPG.
