Silver-plating instructions request for chemistry teacher

2004

Hello,

I am a high school student and recently we have been doing some copper patina in my advanced chemistry class. My teacher has asked us if we might find instructions on how to do silver plating and give these to him because he has been interested in doing it for quite a while. I am hoping that this might give me some extra-credit. I you could give me this information or at least show me where I might find this information I would be very grateful.

Gratefully yours,

Jordan Z.
student - Dallas, Texas

Silver plating pretty much requires cyanide-based plating solutions. Due to their toxicity, it's something for the teacher, not the students. But you can find silver plating instructions in any of our "must have" plating books. A library somewhere in Dallas should have either the Metal Finishing Guidebook or the Electroplating Engineering Handbook this on eBay, AbeBooks, or Amazon [affil link] .
