Need 24k gold plating on glass

Q. I am trying to find a machine that can help me coat my glass cups (pimp cups) in 24k gold and silver.

Any ideas? I need help ASAP.

Thanks,

A. Hi, cousin Lionel.

Please see our FAQ on metallizing non-conductive materials. Probably 'firing' a gold coating on, as is done on porcelain china would be the most promising approach. Good luck.

Q. I am looking for something to gold plate my pimp cups. What would you recommend? P.S. What does 'firing' a gold finish mean?

China paint: gold/silver

on eBay or

Amazon

A. Hi, Adam.

If you look at quality chinaware that has gold or silver patterns on it, they are "fired" on. I have no personal experience in doing this, but I believe it means the gold is painted on and baked, then there is a porcelain ceramic top coat that is fused on to prevent the gold from quickly wearing off.

I don't want to suggest that this is something that you cannot do yourself, but it's not quite as simple as simply brushing something on, so you might want to find a professional. There are air-dry paints.

these days that may not offer the same durability, but should be easier.
