A. Hi, folks, if you spell it as "Blakodizing", that is a trademark of Luster-On Products of Springfield, Massachusetts, USA. But, sorry, spelled as blacodizing or blackodizing, I haven't heard the term except in these inquiries asking what it is :-)

Good luck.

thumbs down signMr. Mooney, If, you don't know the answer, do not answer. There are sites indicating "Blackodizing" as one of the treatment on components to prevent environment effect and better aesthetics. Better you go thro' key search on this word and you will find many sites. Do not criticize and don't be proud on your experience, one should learn new till the end of life.

Hi, cousin Naishadh.

Ravindra spelled the word two different ways and had been waiting a year for a response, and I knew that a third spelling with just one letter changed was a trademarked term, so I wanted to point that out in case it might help any of you. When 3 people are waiting for help and receiving none, I thought it better to try to answer as best I could rather than ignore their request on the basis of my answer being imperfect.

Unlike you, I did not criticize anyone! If you read my reply as criticism, it was certainly not intended; I simply said I could not find it spelled that way in standards, or in a search of the published technical literature. Because all three inquiries were from India, it probably is a term more commonly used there than in the USA. I now believe that it means the same thing as what we usually call 'black oxiding' here -- but since I can't say with absolute surety, I guess you would prefer that I observe radio silence :-)

Q. Please send me the information about the blackodizing process. I want to know the process, its application in the industry.

Thanx.

A. Hello Mahesh, I have come to the opinion that 'blackodizing' and 'blacodizing' are terms sometimes used in India to refer to the same process that we call 'black oxiding' in the USA. See our FAQ at www.finishing.com/faqs/blackoxide.shtml for an introduction. Good luck.
