Although it may not be quite "complete", I can recommended Samuel Spring's "Preparation of Metal for Painting" [link is to info about the book at Amazon]; it will give you a pretty good introduction to the process. Another resource for fairly complete info is "Phosphating of Metals" [link is to info about the book at Amazon] by Werner Rauch. Good luck.
