How to shine a Brass Fire Hydrant?

Hello,

I'm restoring old fire fighting equipment, recently I acquired an all brass fire hydrant and would like the best way to get and maintain the shine. The Fire hydrant is a James Jones two piece hydrant.

If you had not already, you may want to consider using a wire wheel (electric) to clean thoroughly the fire hydrant and follow-up by buffing the James Jones Fire Hydrant; a paste wax that is commonly used on boats and nautical equipment to maintain its shine.

just a thought!
