Installation / type of piping required

Does DI water require stainless steel piping (for example to a steamer) or is copper piping OK?

316 Stainless steel is a good choice for DI water. If cost is an issue, CPVC pipe is an excellent choice and is much less. Be careful though to make sure of your pressure and ambient temperatures are not excessive. Copper would not be preferred choice.
