-----Aluminium foil: AA1235 vs. AA8011
Q. DEAR SIRS:
WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AA1235 AND AA8011 GRADE OF ALUMINIUM FOIL. PLEASE INFORM US THE DIFFERENCE FOR THEM.

A. The difference is in the Composition.
AA 1235 is a purer version of aluminium Alloy with low level of Fe & Si used for thin gauge foil rolling. AA 8011 is Al-Fe-Si alloy with high Fe & Si as alloying elements to impart strength in the alloy. AA 8011 is used for slightly higher gauge foil rolling.

Q. Dear sir ,
Can AA 8011 be used for friction stir welding process?
I have not come across any paper in fsw which is using AA8011 as base metal.

Q. What is the difference between Alloy AA8011-O and AA8079-O? Is it suitable for Flexible packaging use?
