Metallic Powder Painting

We have a requirement for painting of a metallic powder finish called as "antique copper". Can we mix this with our regular production gun and pick up tube, involving epoxy polyester. How about the painting booth and the "spray to waste" module?

Dear Nanda,

Antique copper can be produced in a number of ways, however one of the main ways is to dry-blend a base coat with a premixed metallic. If this is the case you will have to spray to waste as the texture and metallic content will alter if you try to reclaim. As for spraying, you can spray these powders with a normal electrostatic gun (Not Tribomatic(friction charged)). If you encounter any problems try turning down the kV and moving the gun further away from the substrate.

Hope this helps
