Printed Circuit Manufacturing Exhaust System Design

December 1, 2014

Q. We are sizing an exhaust system for a Developer unit with an alkaline fume exhaust stream @ 85 °F and a stripper unit with an ethanolamine/aliphatic amine/glycol ether/organic amine @ 130 °F exhaust stream.

Is CPVC suitable or chemical resistant to this exhaust air stream?

A. Hello Stan,
I answered your question on Dec 1st but for some reason it didn't post. Yes CPVC is very adequate for developer and alkaline strip conveyorized process. I have seen where PVC leaks over time. You probably already planned on it but an adjustable damper on the exhaust riser will help with processing thin materials in horizontal machines.
