How to remove aluminium adhered to stainless steel die

June 30, 2014

Q.
Hello All.

We are facing a typical issue. We do aluminium pressure dies casting and at times the aluminium thin layer gets deposited on the pins and other curved surfaces of the stainless steel die.

We tried dry ice blasting but the result was not that good. Can anyone suggest how to get rid of metal to metal adherents like the one mentioned above?

Will preheating and then dry ice blasting help?

Thanks a ton.
