Current density for trivalent chrome plating

What is the optimum current density of trivalent chrome?

Hi Joe,

Optimum current density of trivalent chrome is:

Cathode: 50-200 asf (Recommended: 100 asf)
Anode: 30-50 asf (Recommended: 40 asf)

Increasing current density may not result in increased deposit thickness as cathode efficiency decreases with increasing current density. Although this will result in the production of good deposit distribution, thickness will be a factor of time rather than current density. Typically, chromium will be deposited at a rate of approximately 4-5 microinches per minute. regardless of the cathode current density.

Regards,
David
