Difference in the longevity of corrosion resistance between zinc plating and stainless steel
I have an indoor application for a product and was wondering about the difference in the longevity of corrosion resistance between zinc plating and stainless steel.
The product is a set of brackets that hold up a copper plate. Between the plate and the brackets is an insulator, so those two metals never come in contact. Stainless steel hardware connects the three items. I did not know if the hardware would damage the plating over time. They are not removed often, but I figured over time....

Hi, Gabe.
Zinc plating should last pretty much indefinitely in most indoor applications. Homes and offices are full of zinc plating in non-decorative applications. Still, solid stainless steel would be the premium answer.
