Can you plate on top of HDG?

WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF PLATING ON TOP OF HDG. I HAVE SOME PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN PLATED FOR AESTHETIC REASONS BUT NEED TO UNDERSTAND THE IMPLICATIONS OF WHETHER THIS WILL CHEMICALLY ATTACK THE HDG ZINC AS THIS IS REQUIRED FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE.
