Refinishing Whirlpool Fixtures
February 22, 2011
Hello,
We have a whirlpool bathtub that is in very good condition, except for the "brass" vents and nozzles. These are actually a plastic of some sort, coated with two layers of metallic material. The first is an aluminum or chrome finish, attached with what I think is some type of adhesive. The second is a brass-type plating. The attached photos show their current appearance: the brass has discoloured and is wearing away in some areas.

I'd like to know if there is any way of removing these layers of plating. Our plan is to paint the fittings, a decision made in light of the fact that the manufacturer no longer produces these fittings. We'd appreciate any guidance that you can provide.
Best Regards,
Gary and Sharon Barling
