Alternative to zinc phosphate coating

Is there an alternative coating to zinc phosphate for mild steel for a high pressure gas container?

Hi Mike. Do you mean zinc phosphate as a pretreatment before painting or powder coating? There are always alternatives, but all one has to do is look at the flood of garden furniture from China that rusts in a year or year and a half instead of lasting 15 years to see that it can be a huge problem to skimp on pretreatment regardless of motive. For a life-hazard item like a high pressure gas cylinder I wouldn't even think of trying an inferior pretreatment. Good luck.
