Recent improvements to trivalent chromate surface finishes

Has there been a change recently in the solution that is used for plating parts with trivalent chromate? More to the point, has there been a new additive to this solution that speeds up the curing time for the finish to hardened? Also, has something been introduced to increase/decrease the coefficient of friction on the surface?

Thanks

Hi, Dan.

To my knowledge there is nothing approaching a "generic" trivalent conversion coating yet. 50 brands / 50 different processes. So it is certainly possible that one or more vendors has made recent changes to their list of offerings.

FYI- Chromate is a conversion coating, not plating. Trivalent chrome plating is similar to hexavalent chrome, but can only be applied in thin thicknesses.
