Iron targets for PVD coatings

We have been working with PVD coatings using Titanium targets, and have some Iron targets available to try out - wondering if anyone can comment on the success of an Iron Nitride PVD coating (Using cathodic arc deposition)?

There are two good reasons that there has been very little work on PVD with iron targets. First, iron is ferromagnetic. As most PVD sources use magnets, a ferromagnetic target is not a very good idea. Second, iron nitride has not been known to have better properties than other transition metal nitrides, so it is not generally worth the effort.
