Hi, Ronnie.

ASM Metals Handbook, Vol. 5[this on on Amazon or AbeBooks affil links] has a chapter on nickel plating which includes information about generic addition agents for nickel plating like saccharin, sulfonamides, sodium salts, naphthalene, sulfonates, butyne diol, Thiourea ⇦ on eBay or Amazon [affil link] , etc. You can buy it from Amazon, ASM, or many other sources.

But today's modern addition agent formulations are superior to those and are proprietary trade secrets; the finished product rather than the formulation info is for sale. You may find some helpful info in expired patents. Best of luck.

Approach making your own brightener with great caution. They all have different negative side effects as well as brightening.
For saccharin, it makes it harder and it drastically increases the internal stress.
