Q. I want to know simply explain the phosphating reaction (what is free acid, total acid, coating reaction, sludge formation, sludge recovery, trouble shooting, defects, & CED ⇦ huh? coating reaction.

A. If you use a reputable proprietary solution vendor, their tech services can give you answers to all of your items except the CED reaction.
If you are going to use a home brew, it very probably will not work as well and you have no one to help when you have problems.
