Crazy man wants to paint a zebra design on his sterling silver tenor saxophone bell

December 25, 2010

I have a sterling silver plated tenor saxophone, and want to paint a black and red zebra print on the bell only. The sax repair technicians will detach the bell for me so that I have a fresh canvas to paint on. This is for the outside of the bell only and will leave the bell sterling silver on the inside.
Does anyone know of an appropriate process? ie: Primers, type of paint, clear lacquers that I can use to get a hard durable finish for this project?

Thanks

Any matte finish or sandblasting can support paint adhesion. I think that you can use black cold enamel (Ceramit is the best brand), ordinary paint is not good option (adhesion problems).Try it on some silver plated scrap. Hope it helps and good luck!
