Any difference between Bright Zinc Plating vs Zinc Plating?

I have heard the term bright zinc plating used to describe the coating on some fasteners. I am wondering if there is any difference between bright zinc plating, and zinc plating?

Hi, Jay. Four decades ago all zinc plating was done from cyanide-based plating baths and the finish was somewhat matte looking, rather like raw aluminum or silver. Then acid zinc plating baths were developed and the plating was brighter, more like nickel or chrome. If you demand bright zinc plating, it will be bright; if you don't, it may or may not be bright. The corrosion resistance and other qualities will be the same.
