-----Permanent blackening of stainless steel for replacement church ironwork
As an architect involved in historic building work I frequently replace corroding ironwork with stainless steel or phosphor bronze. A disadvantage in using ss is its brightness and a permanent blackening that will never need redecorating would be of great interest to those who work in the historic glass world where leaded light windows are supported on tie bars, often at high level, inaccessible for redecoration. Any suggestion for easily blackening 15 mm round section stainless steel rod for a permanent finish?
