Imitation Gold Plating
November 1, 2010
Hi,
I work for a costume jewelry designer. Due to the rising cost of Gold we are quickly loosing our gross profit margin. We have considered switching our 18 kt gold plating (over brass) to imitation gold. But we are unaware following concerning imitation gold:
1. Chemical Makeup
2. Appropriate description to tell customers
3. Life span
4. How it will effect product value.
Best,
Alix

I have the same problem, it now cost me $1500.00 an ounce shipped to me and that only last a few days. I am planning on switching to brass plating with 70/30 anodes and bright nickel plating for a bright finish.
