Zinc bond strength: plating vs. galvanizing

Quickstart: Both zinc electroplating and zinc galvanizing have outstanding bond strength; this theoretical question probably doesn't truly address the poster's actual problem, which we would guess is improper preparation resulting in poor adhesion.

Q. Generally we have two processes for applying zinc coating on mild steel jobs like 1, hot dip galvanising and 2, zinc electroplating.
in this regards I would like to know which process give more bonding strength and why .

A. Hi, Prakash. Properly conducted on appropriate substrates, both processes exhibit plenty of bond strength for virtually any application. Any peeling indicates something wrong, not a weakness in the technology. If you are having problems with bond strength it is almost surely a problem in your process, such as inadequate cleaning or failure to remove scale, rather than a weakness in the selected technology. Further, you're generally not free to simply substitute one process for the other anyway since there are many potential limitations to each process.

Please explain your situation. Casting a question in the abstract makes it difficult to actually help you. Thanks!
