For marine conditions, is zinc blue passivation enough?

December 4, 2009

Hello everyone,
I'm working with my Masters Thesis for my MSc, and my project is about product that will be on very rough marine conditions, in the deck of a ship. The product is a hydraulic manifold made out of high grade steel. The question is that, is blue passivated zinc coating (500µm) enough to protect my product from corrosion, what kind of anti corrosion abilities does this finishing have? What would be the a good alternative for this finishing?
