Is nickel or chrome plating better and why?

I need to know the ins and outs of bright nickel plating vs bright chrome plating.
Not how to do it, but rather which application to do it and why?
I am trying to protect pieces on a truck going down Illinois highways in all kinds of
mid-west weather.

thank you,

Hi, Bob. Please see our FAQ: "Introduction to Chrome Plating" because it is helpful to understand that bright chrome plating is simply an additional thin layer of plating on top of bright nickel plating.

The chrome improves the corrosion resistance and it prevents the nickel from tarnishing. The answer to your question is that chrome plating is better.
