Cleaning Fire Sprinkler Gauges

November 15, 2009

1. I am a fire sprinkler contractor. 40 years in the trade and 31 years as a contractor. I have recently started collecting old brass fire sprinkler gauges.

Very pretty when shined. Some of them clean easily with Maas. Others seem to have a stain on them that is almost impossible to buff out. I have tried a wheel with compounds and they work a lot of the time but I have trouble cleaning out the smaller areas around the face of the gauges. In some cases the wheel doesn't seem to work at all.

What other ways are their to clean and polish the very difficult cases?

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
