Plating my sword

I have a sword that I want to gold plate along with its scabbard, can I do this on my own to save money?

Hi, Raymond. You can do it on your own to waste money :-)

The intrinsic value of gold is high enough that the labor cost for a plating shop starts getting less significant, while the cost of mistakes gets very high. I won't say you can't do it, but as a minimum you'll probably want to nickel plate first.
