How to re-brass a doorknob

I left a brass door knob in solution too long in order to brigten it. Now that the brass is "gone" can I bring it back? Dan

Hi, Dan. When you say the brass is gone, I assume the doorknob is steel or zinc diecast and was electroplated with a thin layer of brass. Brass electroplating is not a handyman thing. You need to either paint it or to send it out to a plating shop for replating. Good luck.
