Brushing will spoil corrosion resistance of Brushed Nickel finish

I have a brushed nickel color finish I would like on a furniture piece. I am concerned that the screw areas and scratching for the decorative finishing style will remove any portection of corrosion in the salt air. What is the best process and least expensive base metal material I can use? (Chrome-nickel steel, brass, stainless steel with electroplating)

You should not have a problem if you do the brush process before plate. After that, it depends on exactly what your needs are. Obviously, using 316L stainless as a base material would be fantastic, but much more expensive than most would need.

Sorry! Finishing.com is temporarily Read-Only.
Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
