Repainting galvanized tennis court fencing struts -- what primer?

I have to repaint the galvanised struts surrounding a tennis court. It has previously been painted and is badly flaking, once stripped back to bare metal what primer would give me the best chance of keeping normal oil paints on it.

Hi, Dave. Since you already know for sure that this project is going to be problematic, it's probably worth the extra effort to wash with diluted vinegar [in bulk on eBay or Amazon], neutralize and clean by scrubbing with trisodium phosphate [on eBay or Amazon], then applying a Galvanized Metal Primer [affil links]. Good luck.
