Nickel plate as a corrosion barrier on stainless operated at high temperature.

We have a problem where 440C parts suffer corrosion. The parts are part of a fluidic device, so when the layer builds up to a thickness greater than about 0.001" the moving parts bind.We wondered if a nickel plate would provide suitable protection, but without risk of peeling. The part operates in a hot air stream at about 700 degF, and temperature rises at a rapid rate (say as fast as 20 deg fper second. Changing to other types of 440 is an option.

I would look at 0.001" electroless nickel.

I have been told of the possibility of attaining a diffusion bond between nickel plate and stainless, making peeling impossible.
I have heard of exotic nuclear bombardment methods but is there some sort of more ordinary means of attaining a fusion / diffusion bond to the stainless?

Thanks

We will be plating some samples and testing.
