There is a greasy dye called contact blue or prussian blue. It is used by mechanics and technicians to inspect for metal-to-metal contact (I think Permatex is a popular brand). It comes in little tubes perhaps about two or three oz. It is highly concentrated. Use gloves and proper clothing. Alternatively you can also use rollerball pen ink.
