Electropolishing of Kovar

Which solutions do I have to use to electropolish kovar (fe,ni,co alloy)? Also how can I do pre-cleaning?which solution can I use ?

Hi, Roberta. Please try to get hold of a copy of the Electroplating Engineering Handbook ⇦ this on eBay, AbeBooks, or Amazon [affil link] , which has a good chapter on electropolishing. I believe that kovar can be treated as stainless steel for this particular application. A good way a metal finishing intern can use the internet is "trust but verify" :-)

how fine of a surface finish were you able to obtain on the kovar products from electroplating? I'm working on a project for my school and we are looking at attempting a similar procedure. thanks.
