Difference between clad and plated

 August 4, 2009

Hi

I would like to know the difference between clad and plated.

Regards

Hi, Anneke. Although it may depend a bit on the situation, "clad" generally means that sheets of the various metals were pressed together in an autoclave and then rolled down to size. The platinum on clad anodes is probably thicker than on electroplated anodes.
