Plating Iridium on Stainless
I need to electroplate about 1 micron of iridium on a stainless steel disk. Can this be done directly or over a strike of another metal or metals?

states that
1 micron is the most that you will get without cracking. He also states that it is not commercially feasible and that it has been done from molten salts. You might consider one of the other platinum family metals.
I think that it has been done by vapor deposition processes.

Stainless steel always needs a strike.
What is your application? Is it for an electrode?
