Bleeding out (Getting spots) in ACO finish
July 17, 2009
Usually during the summer I get a lot of "bleeding" when I plat ACO (Antique Copper),
I have been told that it may be the cyanide that blocked inside the metal and tried to get out.
The process I'm doing (On brass) is 10 Second Cyanide Copper (As
"strike"), 10 Minutes in Acid copper, and 5 Minutes in Dip 20 (Black
Ú Not electric). Then after drying, I clean some of the black, and lacquer.
After few days I am getting (Not on all the parts) black spots under the lacquer.
Please help!

Mr. Gil,
Actually you are doing oxidation of copper by dipping in to the soln. First you increase the thickness of copper plating. Do the cy. copper for 5 min & acid copper at least 20 mins. Apply electrophoretic coating after blackning instead of dipping lacquer.
