-----Hydrogen Embrittlement after Chrome Plating
Planning to repair a Wind turbine shaft jounral by chrome plating and have recently learned that hydrogen embrittlement can occur. I would like to understand the risks associated with the process and what countermeasures can be implemented to mitigate the risk.
The base shaft material is 34CrNiMo6
shaft diameter is in the 600mm range
Tensile strenght is 750-900MPa (from a technical data sheet)
thanks in advance for your help

Ted Mooney is retiring but I have several offers to take it over.
We're working hard to make sure we find it the best new home.
