-----Importance of etching process before hard chrome plating on piston rod
I am an employee wondering about the importance of etching process before hard chrome plating on piston rod

Hi, Sunil. In almost all cases metals rapidly build up an oxide tarnish on their surface, and in almost all cases successful electroplating can only be done directly on a raw metal, not on top of the oxide corrosion. So the need for the etch is not only to give some "tooth", but also to remove the oxide before plating. See if your shop or a local library has a copy of Guffie's "Hard Chromium Plating". Good luck.
